620 Dogs Wearing Bandanas Tried To Break Record At Dogtoberfest
This is the third year in a row the Livermore Area Recreation and Parks District tried to break the Guinness World Record.
LIVERMORE, CA — More than 600 bandana-clad dogs and their owners showed up at Dogtoberfest in Livermore for another attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the most dogs wearing a bandana. This year, 621 dogs helped Livermore get that much closer to snagging the coveted record held by Canberra, Australia.
The 2016 attempt brought 460 dogs together, which made for a barking good time but did not come close to breaking the record. The first attempt in 2015 drew 371 pups to Dogtoberfest. The Aussies still hold the record, which they earned in 2015, thanks to 764 bandana-clad dogs.
Dogtoberfest, which was open to all East Bay dogs and their humans, was held at the Robert Livermore Park on October 15. The popular event is hosted by the Livermore Area Recreation and Parks District. Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center vaccinated 30 dogs for free during the festival. Those who attended enjoyed giveaways and other contests. The popular event also featured local Oktoberfest beers, dog demos and pet vendors.
