LIVERMORE, CA — It was Christmas all over again for a seven-year-old boy who was reunited with his mini dirt bike in Livermore.

The boy’s bike and helmet, which he’d gotten for Christmas, were stolen in late January as part of a string of residential burglaries, Livermore police said. Police said they obtained a warrant to search the home of 55-year-old David Herrera of Tracy, where they found the bike and other stolen items. Herrera was arrested April 5 on charges of burglary, felony possession of stolen property and drug charges.

Police say Herrera is also suspected of stealing $4000 worth of tools in Pleasanton in January.

The seven-year-old didn’t only get his bike back. He was treated to a tour of the police department, and rode his bike around the police parking lot. A video posted to the LPD Twitter page shows the young boy beaming as he cruises down the parking lot.

In February, Livermore police were also able to reunite a 13-year-old with his stolen electric scooter, which he also received for Christmas. A 30-year-old from Modesto was arrested on charges of stealing the scooter in order to sell it.
