LIVERMORE, CA — Altamont Pass Road was closed for several hours Friday morning following a head-on crash involving two cars and two semi-trucks, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At around 6:31 a.m., responders confirmed that one person was trapped in a Tesla, but appeared conscious. Firefighters worked to extricate the person. No one else was believed to be trapped inside the vehicles, according to the log. A helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

Photos posted to Instagram show a Tesla whose front has been completely destroyed and "broken into multiple pieces", and a truck that careened off the road and lost its front tires. The log also says that the white Toyota had a broken right-front axle.

At 6:39 a.m., CHP issued an alert saying that all lanes of Altamont Pass west of Carroll Road were blocked. As of 9:55 a.m., 511.org no longer had a sign reporting the road closed.

Patch reached out to CHP to see if there were any injuries.
