Bicyclist Killed In Accident Just South Of Livermore: CHP

A female cyclist was killed Sunday afternoon following a collision with a car on a curvy road south of Livermore.

LIVERMORE, CA —A bicyclist was killed in a traffic collision Sunday afternoon just south of Livermore, according to the California HIghway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 2:34 p.m. Sunday, after a driver in a 2010 Land Rover was traveling south on Mines Road, near San Antonio Valley Road. The cyclist was traveling north on Mines Road. As the Land Rover was turning a right-to-left curve, the cyclist was navigating the curve from the other direction, according to the CHP report. They both crossed the solid yellow lines by a few feet and collided with each other.

The female cyclist died at the scene, authorities said. She was wearing a helmet, and CHP does not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor. The cyclist’s name has not been released.
