‘Bike Angels’ Will Donate Bikes To Sulphur Fire Survivors

This is the sixth time the group will give bikes to men, women, and children in Lake County.

LIVERMORE, CA — Bike Angels United will be donating 150 bicycles and 120 helmets to survivors of the horrific Sulfur Fire later this month. Former Livermore resident and Bike Angels United founder Candy Alcott said more than 200 volunteers raised funds and gathered donations during the last 80 days.

Alcott, who retired to Florida, is returning to California to help with the massive bicycle giveaway. Alcott said several people who survived Bay Area wildfires have volunteered to help the Bike Angels and the Del Valle High School bike repair program has helped with donations and repairs.

This is the sixth time the group, which started in 2015, will give bikes to men, women and children in Lake County. The event, which will also honor local first responders, will be held at noon on Jan. 20 at Tatonka Trading, located at 14240 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake.

The Sulfur Fire started on October 8, 2017 and burned 2,207 acres. It was one of several massive wildfires ripping through Northern California in October.
