Blessing Of Grapes In Livermore Celebrates 2017 Harvest
At the beginning of each harvest, the grapes are blessed by a rabbi, a priest, and a pastor.
LIVERMORE, CA — The annual Blessing of the Grapes ceremony was held at Concannon in Livermore on Aug. 23. At the beginning of each harvest, the grapes are blessed by a local rabbi, a priest and a pastor. Winemakers and winery owners from the Livermore Valley turned out to share details of this season’s harvest.
“The centuries-old ceremony practiced by many religions will honor the vineyards, the grapes and the people who make the annual harvest a reality,” Tami Kelly Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association said.
