Mylar Balloon Likely Cause Of I-580 Brush Fire

LIVERMORE, CA — A mylar balloon on a power line likely sparked a small brush fire on Interstate 580 near Isabel Avenue Thursday afternoon, fire officials said. The blaze, which has since been extinguished, was reported at 3:25 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

At least two power poles also caught fire, according to CHP records. PG&E crews are making repairs. No one was injured during the fire.
