Livermore House Fire Kept In Check By Bystander's Action

LIVERMORE, CA — A bystander with a hose stopped a Monday afternoon house fire in Livermore from causing more serious damage, firefighters said.

The fire was reported around 3:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Dolores St., the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department reported on the PulsePoint smartphone app. Crews had the blaze under control by about 3:45 p.m.

The cause remains under investigation, but officials say it started outside of the home and spread into the house through the attic. The fire was fairly small thanks to the bystander's action and firefighters' quick response time due to the nearby station, LPFD said.

The damage does not appear to be so extensive that residents will be displaced.
