Coroner Releases Name of Second Victim Killed in Sunol Crash Sunday

The Alameda County coroner’s bureau has released the name of the woman killed in Sunday evening’s three-car collision in Sunol that left two people dead and injured four others. Sunol is in unincorporated Alameda County. The woman killed was identified as 27-year-old Jun Du.

She was riding on state Highway 84 in a BMW driven by 27-year-old Yu Jian Sun, of San Jose, who also died in the crash. At approximately 6:15 p.m. they were hit by a Toyota Corolla and subsequently pushed into the path of another oncoming vehicle.

Sun was pronounced dead at the scene, but Du was flown to Castro Valley’s Eden Medical Center before she expired. Four other people were injured, including a 7-year-old child, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officials at the coroner’s bureau said Du’s last known city of residence was not immediately available Friday morning.

Officials with the CHP said previously that Du and Sun were both from San Jose. Du’s family was out of the country, which made notifying her family of her death difficult, officials said.
