Crash: Mother and Child Identified; Fund Set Up for Family

The victims were attending a family celebration. They will be flown to Mexico for burial.

A mother and daughter killed in a crash by an alleged drunk driver have been identified by family members as 40-year-old Esperanza Morales and her daughter Juli, 14-months.

According to the family member, who wishes to remain anonymous, a large gathering was underway to celebrate a first communion and a birthday.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for the family. Esperanza and Juli will be flown to Mexico for burial. The money raised by the online effort will pay for funeral expenses.

Quoting the GoFundMe account, “Esperanza and Juli left behind a family of three- a 10 year old son/brother, 22 year Old daughter/sister, and the husband/father of 45 years old.”

The family member who contacted Patch says he appreciates the “positive messages people are posting” on Livermore Patch and the Livermore Patch Facebook page.

Esperanza and Juli were killed when they were hit by an out-of-control sports car, that also injured two young boys before finally coming to a stop.

The suspect, Brian Jones, was arrested Saturday night. He bailed out of jail on Sunday.
