Furst has served on the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District Board of Directors for 16 years.

LIVERMORE, CA — David Furst, incumbent director of the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District, announced his candidacy for re-election to the agency’s board of directors.
Furst has served on the LARPD board for 16 years. During his tenure, he advocated adding land and creating trails in Sycamore Grove, helped hire two general managers and a grant writer, among other accomplishments. He is currently working on the creation of new trails, like the Patterson Ranch Trail. If re-elected, Furst said he hopes to increase recreational opportunities in north Livermore, upgrade LARPD parks, and increase trail connections.
Furst is a sports psychology expert who has lived in Livermore since 1994. Before joining the LARPD board, he served on Livermore’s ad hoc ad hoc Bikeways and Trails Committee, the Growth Review Committee, the Beautification Committee and the Library Board of Trustees. He was appointed by Supervisor Scott Haggerty to Alameda County’s Park, Recreation and Historical Commission and the Public Health Advisory Committee, and has been elected to the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts. He currently serves as a Director of the Friends of Open Space and Vineyards (FOV) and is the Sierra Club representative to the Altamont Landfill Open Space Committee.
