A member of Twin Valley District, Troop #935, Deakin is one of approximately 2 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Jeff Price.

Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community-related service project to earn his Eagle; Deakin chose to provide his High School (which is located in a temporary elementary school) with beautiful and useful planter box benches. His school’s Garden Club will use the planters to provide vegetables and flowers to the local food bank and the benches provide his fellow classmates with much needed outside seating. His project not only beautifies the campus but serves a vital purpose to his school culture and the surrounding community.
