The women and children who come to Shepherd’s Gate are seeking to start a new life. They are able shop for free at the thrift store for clothes for job interviews and school as well as items to furnish a new place to live after graduation. Proceeds from the thrift store directly support the women and children at Shepherd’s Gate by providing care, safety, education and encouragement as they rebuild their lives. She is also the cohost of the podcast Now That We Think About It. Home of the American Circus, her most recent book, is a deeply moving novel that explores broken families, the weight of the past, and the complicated journey or finding home.&nbsp;The venue is across from the original Livermore parking garage on Railroad Ave. and is adjacent to the front entrance of&nbsp;&nbsp;the Bankhead Theater.
