Firefighters Raise $10K During ‘Movember Shave Off’ Party

LIVERMORE, CA — Almost 200 firefighters in Alameda County recently sacrificed their facial hair in an effort to raise awareness about firefighter cancers. The third annual “Movember Shave Off” party was held Saturday afternoon at the Livermore Barber Shop.

During the month of November, more than 180 firefighters from 12 fire departments channeled their inner Grizzly Adams and grew their facial hair for the popular fundraiser.

Livermore-Pleasanton, Hayward, Cal Fire, San Ramon Valley, Alameda, Tracy, Oakland, Fremont Piedmont, San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento Metro fire departments were all represented during the event.

The men garnered more than $10,000, which will be donated to the American Cancer Society and Camp Fire victims, according to the Alameda County Firefighters Local 55.
