Firefighters Rescue 10 Stranded During Livermore Flash Flood
BREAKING: Later that day, fire crews also rescued two people stuck on top of a car after they passed through road-closure barricades.
LIVERMORE, CA — Eight people were rescued from stalled cars and two people were saved from flooded businesses Saturday afternoon after a flash flood swept through Collier Canyon Road near Las Positas College, fire officials said. According to fire officials, many cars were stalled as a result of the flooding.
“Numerous surface streets, and businesses in the commercial district were immediately impacted,” fire officials said in a statement.
County officials, police and fire set up road closures around the affected areas. Later in the day, fire crews rescued two more people who were stuck on top of a car after they passed through road-closure barricades.

No one was injured during the rescues, and fire officials do not yet have an estimate on damage to the affected businesses. Flooding from the storms has closed sections of Telsa Road and Stanley Boulevard.
According to the Livermore Police Department, just six inches of water can reach the bottom of most passenger cars, causing a loss of control and possibly stalling.
