Granada High Football Coach Awarded Coach Of Week

The award recognizes high school football coaches who continuously demonstrate hard work and dedication to their football programs.

From GHS: Granada High School’s (GHS) Varsity Football Coach Tim Silva was recognized today as the Oakland Raiders Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week following the GHS Matadors’ 27-24 victory over Monte Vista High in their October 13 game. Representatives of the NFL team, including former Raider Robert Jenkins and a Raiderette, presented a check on the field. “Good players make good coaches,” said Silva, crediting his team for this season’s performance. “We are blessed at Granada to have some good players and great young men.” Silva is in his 11th year at GHS, and 27th year overall as a head coach. He played strong safety at Amador and Cal Poly.

"It is a great honor that Coach Tim Silva has been selected as the Oakland Raiders Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week! Coach Silva has done a great job of coaching and teaching Granada High School's student-athletes, both on and off the field," said Clark Conover, athletic director at GHS. The program is named after 2-time Super Bowl winning Raiders Coach Tom Flores and presented by Gatorade. The award recognizes high school football coaches who continuously demonstrate hard work and dedication to their football programs by creating successful football teams and players on and off the field.

“Granada High School is very proud of Coach Silva and the football team’s accomplishments. This recognition is a testament to all of their hard work and dedication. Coach Silva continues to be a positive influence on the student-athletes and has made a large impact on the campus as well,” said GHS Principal PJ Daley.
