Harlem Wizards Come to Livermore & Celebrate 25 Years of Livermore Valley Education Foundation

Famous International "Trick Hoops and Alley Oops" Team First Time In Livermore to Help Fundraiser for Local Schools

Get ready for dazzling tricks and high-flying stunts! To help commemorate the Livermore Valley Education Foundation (LVEF)'s 25th anniversary, the internationally acclaimed Harlem Wizards will bring their "trick hoops & alley oops" basketball roadshow to Livermore on April 21 and 22.

With their family-awesome slam-dunking brand of entertainment basketball, the Wizards offer interactive fun for kids of all ages while supporting much-needed fundraising for local schools. This will be the Wizards' debut Livermore appearance, and proceeds will benefit LVEF.

The Wizards will play two games against hometown teams composed of Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) staff and students, plus community and business leaders including our local Assemblywoman Catherine Baker. The games take place Thursday, April 21 at Livermore High School and Friday, April 22, at Granada High School. Tip-off is at 7pm, but you'll want to arrive early for pre-game action. Student jazz band Element 116, and Shooting Stars, an inspirational cheer team consisting of Livermore High School special education students, will perform at halftime of both games.

“With more than 50 years of worldwide basketball wizardry, the Harlem Wizards will put on a show our students and families won’t want to miss as we celebrate LVEF’s Silver Anniversary,” Greg Park, LVEF Event Co-Chair shares. Major event sponsors include Presenting Sponsor Livermore Dental Care; "Alley Oop" sponsorsBikram Yoga Livermore, Gene Morgan Insurance, Livermore Optometry Group, The Independent, True North Services Inc., Vigilant Solutions, and Watermark Communities; and "Pick & Roll" sponsors Altamont Beer Works, Buena Vista Tree Service, Caratti Jewelers, Dorothy Nunes, Dragonfly Yoga, Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center, TRU Beauty, and Trutner Law Offices.

LVEF's mission is to “Champion exceptional educational opportunities for all LVJUSD students through the generosity of our community.” Since 1991, LVEF has raised over $4 million for LVJUSD schools. Notable recent grants include $39,000 for Chromebooks for high school students, and $25,000 for “So Wise, So Young,” a Shakespeare program for LVJUSD second graders.
