Help Needed For Orphaned And Abandoned Children in Bolivia

Local fundraiser at Page Mill Winery in Livermore directly supports Bolivian children.

When Carla Cespedes-Yin heard about nonprofit Niños con Valor and its support for orphaned and abandoned children in Bolivia, it struck a heartfelt cord. Bolivia is where she grew up. In that moment, she made a firm decision to help make a difference for these children by bringing awareness to Niños con Valor in the greater Tri-Valley, which includes support for a Niños con Valor fundraiser at Page Mill Winery on December 13th.

"After learning about the hard and amazing work being done locally to support Bolivian children, I knew I had to do something," explains Cespedes-Yin. "I'm inspired by Niños con Valor's efforts to provide family-like homes plus their holistic approach to care for those who are most vulnerable: orphaned, abandoned, abused children and adolescents in Bolivia. I knew I had to get involved and help."

Cespedes-Yin met Rebecca Tronscoso a year and a half ago when their kids were in the same dual immersion program. After Cespedes-Yin shared she was originally from Bolivia, Tronscoso passionately told her about a mission trip she took there almost 10 years ago to help Niños con Valor from the very start. Tronscoso has been working and serving with the organization ever since while inspiring others in the Tri-Valley to do the same.

A local fundraising event organized by Tronscoso at Page Mill Winery is scheduled for Thursday, December 13th from 5pm - 8pm. Basic needs such as healthcare for these Bolivian children are in the spotlight.

"We hope you can carve out a little time to join us for a relaxing night of wine tasting! Make it a date night or a night out with friends," shares Rebecca Tronscoso.

There will be some small bites and a few vendors to do a little shopping at this fundraising event. Page Mill Winery is donating the $10 tasting fee plus 10% of winery sales that night straight to Niños con Valor, which is officially recognized in Cochabamba, Bolivia, as a charity caring for orphaned and abandoned children there. This organization runs almost exclusively on funds raised in the USA and Canada.

Donations at this event will directly help these Bolivian children. For example, just 40 tasting fees will pay for one year of healthcare for a single child.
