Police Seek VW Driver As Part Of Livermore Homicide Investigation

A white Volkswagen was captured on video surveillance near Monday's crime scene, and police are hoping the driver will come forward.

LIVERMORE, CA — Police in Livermore announced Thursday that they are following up on leads in Monday's deadly shooting that left a 16-year-old high school student dead. A white Volkswagen was captured on video surveillance near the crime scene and police are hoping the driver will come forward as a possible witness, said LPD Sgt. Steve Goard. (UPDATE: As of Friday, July 12, LPD police said they have located the driver, although no new breaks in the case have been reported.)

The Livermore Police Department has been working to track down Jorge Luis Tellez, 21, who is wanted in connection with the shooting Monday around 9:25 p.m. at 985 E. Stanley Boulevard. The shooting took place outside a Taco Bell restaurant, and the VW was in the restaurant's drive-through at the time.

According to police, when officers responded to the incident they found the teen boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was immediately transported to a local hospital but died early Tuesday. School district officials confirmed the teen attended high school in Livermore

According to police, their investigation revealed there was a verbal altercation between the victim and Tellez that resulted in the fatal shooting.

Tellez fled the scene and LPD's SWAT team served a search warrant on his residence early Tuesday morning; an arrest warrant was also obtained, according to police.

Tellez should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the LPD. If anyone sees him, they should call 911.
