How to Achieve Emotional Impact in Writing to be Discussed

Author Nora Profit to Speak

PLEASANTON, CALIF.: Author Nora Profit will speak to local writers about "How to Achieve Emotional Impact in Writing," Saturday, February 16. She is the founder of The Writing Loft, an online creative writing school.

"Amateur writers are often unaware that regardless of how well a manuscript is written, if it doesn't impact the reader emotionally, it is all for naught," Profit wrote in a note about her upcoming talk.

The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton, 5115 Hopyard Rd., Pleasanton, with check-in at 1:30 p.m. The presentation is hosted by the Tri-Valley Branch of the California Writers Club (CWC).

Profit's talk is open to people who make advance reservations and pay a fee at the door. Cost for CWC members is $14; for non-members, $18. Student fees are $6 for members and $10 for non-members. Anyone interested in the program or CWC may attend with no obligation to join. Reservations can be made by sending a message via e-mail to reservations@trivalleywriters.org no later than Wednesday, February 13.

Profit is an award-winning journalist, feature writer, columnist, editor and author. She is a featured author in the books "Chicken Soup for the Writer's Soul" and "Chicken Soup: Living Your Dreams." Profit is married, the mother of one grown son and lives in Northern California. She recently survived the loss of everything she owned in the devastating Camp Fire that destroyed most of the town of Paradise where she lived.
