Kindness Rocks: Painted Rock Craze Spreads To Livermore

The treasures, which are part of the Livermore Rocks Kindness Project, are popping up all over the city, including at the police department.

LIVERMORE, CA — Taking a walk through Livermore these days just got more interesting – and colorful. And it's all thanks to a new trend that is taking the community by storm. Painted rock hunting. Nationally, it's popped up in hundreds of communities over the last several months. Residents on a local Livermore Facebook page have reported finding the adorable rocks in Maitland R. Henry Park, Tex Spruiell Park, and most recently, on the doorstep of the Livermore Police Department.

Residents say they find the treasures, take a photo and re-hide them all over Livermore. Tri-Valley resident Jennifer Veon Valley started hiding rocks and launched a Facebook page called the Livermore Rocks Kindness Project, as part of a kindness initiative. The goal is to inspire others and encourage random acts of kindness, according to the page. The group has already held at least one community painting party and has more parties planned. They also give tips on the best way to paint a rock!
