Las Positas College to Hold 'Titanic: The Musical' Auditions

Las Positas College will hold open auditions for the summer production of 'Titanic: The Musical' on Monday, March 13 and 15.

From Las Positas College: Las Positas College (LPC) will hold open auditions for the upcoming summer production of "Titanic: The Musical" on Monday, March 13 and Wednesday, March 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the rehearsal room (room 4127) of the Mertes Center for the Performing Arts on the LPC campus, 3000 Campus Hill Drive in Livermore.

"Titanic: The Musical" opened on Broadway in 1997, and won five Tony Awards, including the award for Best Musical. The music and lyrics are by Maury Yeston, and the play is based upon the book by Peter Stone. The play examines the causes, conditions, and characters involved on the fatal night of April 15, 1912, and provides insight into its officers, crew and passengers.

Actors and singers of all ages and ethnicities are invited to audition, and should bring two prepared pieces of musical theater of contrasting styles with 16 measures or one verse each. Please bring sheet music in an appropriate key and be prepared to sing. An accompanist will be provided. The auditions are a drop-in format and no appointments are necessary. Callbacks will be scheduled on Thursday, March 16 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The play will be directed and produced by Titian Lish and will be performed in the beautiful outdoor amphitheater on the LPC campus from July 13 to July 16. Musical direction will be provided by Diana Cefao with choreography by Morgan Mulholand. Rehearsals are scheduled each Monday through Thursday evening from May 8 through July 12.

Please note that for liability reasons, all cast members are required to register and sign up for a three unit designated theater class (TBD). Limited scholarships are available and interested parties can inquire at tlish@laspositascollege.edu for more information.
