Little League Intermediate 50/70 World Series Underway In Livermore

LIVERMORE, CA — Little League fans from around the world once again have their eyes focused on Livermore for the annual Little League Intermediate 50/70 World Series. The games, which are held at Max Baer Park, began on July 31. The championship game will be played at 5:30 p.m. on August 7.

Eleven teams from around the world qualify for the Series. The host team from the Tri-Valley's District 57 is Tassajara Valley Little League from Danville. Other teams come from the West, Central, Southwest, Southeast and East regions in the US. International teams will join from Canada, Puerto Rico, Curacao, Czech Republic and South Korea.

This is the fourth year of the Series. Attendance for 2015 was estimated at more than 40,000, according to the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District.

The popular Little League Intermediate World Series is the 9th Little League World Series and first in the baseball-rich state of California. Players ages 11-13 are eligible to play in this Intermediate baseball league, which features a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot bases, also known as “50/70”.

Series organizers have teamed up with the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District for the annual event. According to a statement released by park district officials, a new video scoreboard and bleachers were added to improve the fields for the popular event.

"Livermore has been an ideal fit for this," said Todd Reddick, Marketing Director and World Series Team Liaison. "LARPD has been a fantastic partner."
