Electrical Garage Fire Threatens Dragster, Nets $30K In Losses
There were no injuries reported and the fire did not spread to the house, but a four-car garage structure was damaged, officials say.

LIVERMORE, CA — A garage fire last week at a Livermore property caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the structure.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was reported by neighbors and an alarm system at the 2000 Galloway Common home on Thursday around 7:15 p.m., shortly after the residents left for dinner, said Acting Battalion Chief Kurtis Dickey of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department. The fire had started climbing up the side of the detached garage and was visible from the street.

The fire started in a room next to a detached two-story, two-car garage and spread to the attic of the detached garage, he said. The homeowner works on engines in the side room and believes it was an electrical fire sparked by his equipment.
Firefighters were able to remove a dragster from the detached garage before the car caught fire, Dickey said. They also stopped the fire before it spread to another detached garage, next to the one that caught fire, which also held a car.

In all, the two detached garages were about 80 feet by 50 feet, Dickey said.
