Livermore High Hosts Ag Adventure for Third Graders

On Thursday May 7, Livermore High School hosted the annual Agricultural Adventure for Third grade students from around the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. Livermore High School is the only high school in Alameda County with an active Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter! The Agriculture Adventure day featured numerous agricultural exhibits, hands-on activities and demonstrations.

Demonstrations included sheep shearing, hoof trimming and honey bee production. Exhibits included: olive oil production, Livermore history and large and small farm animals. Students had the opportunity to participate in hand-on activities including bee condo building, dummy calf roping and seed planting.

“It was a great event“ Says Principal Alberto Solorzano of Livermore High School. “One of the goats got out of the pen, everyone was running around trying to catch this goat, and one of FFA rancher students came over and lassoed the goat, no problem, she was standing maybe 20 feet away and lassoed the goat on her first try. That was the moment of the day.”
