Livermore Police Officer Succumbs To Cancer

LIVERMORE, CA — A Livermore police officer lost his battle with pancreatic cancer Thursday.

Officer Maximiliano "Max" Messina served in law enforcement for 21 years, including seven in Livermore, the police department said in a tribute to him.

He was a big teddy bear who cared for others, and touched the lives of colleagues and community members alike. His love for public service was surpassed only by his love for his two sons and wife, the Livermore Police Department said.

"You could see the love pouring out from his soul whenever his cherished boys came up," LPD said. "His family can forever stand proud, with their heads held high to the man in their life."

"We miss you so much already, brother."
