Livermore Valley Education Foundation Announces Logo Contest

For over two decades, the Livermore Valley Education Foundation (LVEF) has helped Livermore students. Now, Livermore students have an opportunity to help LVEF.

LVEF is holding a contest to develop a new logo. The contest is open to all students at Del Valle, Granada, Livermore, and Vineyard High Schools. LVEF will award $100 to the winning designer, and $400 to the designer’s school. Entries must be submitted by January 31, 2015.

The new logo will help mark a new beginning for the organization, according to LVEF Board President David Jonas. “LVEF is undergoing a transformation. We have more than doubled the size of our Board, we are implementing new initiatives, and we have a new energy and attitude,” explained Jonas. “We thought that a new logo would be a great way to celebrate LVEF’s long and rich tradition of serving Livermore schools.”

LVEF Board member Jon Williams conceived the logo contest idea. “To truly support the youth community, we need to validate, affirm, and build bridges with its members,” said Williams, who attended Livermore schools and now teaches third grade in the San Ramon school district. “With this contest we want to connect directly with the students who we support by inviting them to help shape our identity.”

A panel of four judges will select the winning logo design. The judges include Livermore school district Superintendent Kelly Bowers, LVEF Board member Sally Dunlop, LVEF volunteer Joe Romagna, and Livermore artist Nova Starling.
