Livermore Valley Opera's Movie Night at the Vine Cinema & Alehouse in Livermore on January 20th
LVO Movie Night at Casbah and the Vine Cinema, featuring the Metropolitan Opera's production of Rossini's The Italian Girl in Algiers

Save the date for LVO’s upcoming Movie Night and Reception featuring the Metropolitan Opera’s 1986 production of Rossini’s The Italian Girl in Algiers on January 20th. The evening includes a reception at the Casbah Mediterranean Kitchen Restaurant featuring hearty Arabic appetizers from Algerian Cuisine, and specialty wine pairings. This event is open to the general public, as well as Livermore Valley Opera’s Overture and Legacy members. Existing and interested new chorus members are highly encouraged to attend. The film selections include the witty, operatic dramma giocoso of The Italian Girl in Algiers, under the clever direction of Brian Large starring Marilyn Horne and Paolo Montarsolo, as well as an interesting, brief film clip of Emanuele Luzzati’s animation of Rossini’s overture. Emanuele Luzzati was an Italian painter, production designer, illustrator, film director and animator. He was nominated for Academy Awards for two of his short films, La gazza ladra (The Thieving Magpie) (1965) and Pulcinella (1973). He incorporated elements of Tarot Card symbolism into his works and designed many sets for several of Rossini’s and Mozart’s operas.
The evening begins at 6:00PM at the Casbah Mediterranean Kitchen Restaurant in Livermore, followed by the films at 7:30PM at the Vine Cinema & Alehouse. Tickets for both the reception and film are $25.00, and film only are $10.00. All LVO chorus members will receive a special chorus member discount of 20% for the reception and film combination. This evening promises to be more than the sum of its parts so don’t miss it. Tickets are on sale at the Acceptiva website, or by calling 925-462-6964.
