LPD Issues Warning of Possible Police Impersonator

Police say one woman was followed on backroads to Tracy.

The Livermore Police Department is investigating two separate reports of a possible police impersonator. In one instance, a woman was followed all the way to Tracy.

According to police, on June 30 at about 5:00 p.m., a Lawrence Livermore Laboratory employee left work and headed home to Tracy via backroads, taking Tesla Road, Greenville Road and Old Altamont Pass Road. She noticed a white SUV style Chevy Tahoe or Suburban following behind her. The employee noticed the vehicle had visible blue lettering on the SUV displaying, “Livermore POLICE”.

The vehicle followed her into the city of Tracy and through city streets. She became alarmed and pulled into an unknown driveway. The vehicle kept going.

LLNL distributed a flyer to their employees regarding the incident. As a result, another employee reported that a week earlier they saw the same vehicle traveling northbound on Vasco Road and enter I-580. That employee was not followed.

All Livermore Police Department vehicles are black Ford Explorers with white doors. They have Livermore PD insignias and vehicle numbers. The suspicious vehicle was a white Chevy Tahoe or Suburban with a blue stripe with a light bar on the roof.
