LVJUSD Calls Off Events Following State Coronavirus Proclamation
All Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District events will be canceled for the next 30 days, until April 14.
LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District schools will remain open, but the district has canceled all school activities after the state issued an advisory on gatherings.
California public health officials said late Wednesday that non-essential gatherings of 250 people or more must not be held, and smaller gatherings should only should proceed if organizers can ensure six feet of distance is kept between everyone, in an effort to limit potential spread of the new coronavirus.
Assemblies, field trips, performances, dances, fundraisers, campus visitors and volunteers, middle school sports and spectators at high school sports games will not be permitted for the next 30 days through April 14, beginning 3 p.m. Thursday, the district said in a note the district community.

Public health officials consider school an essential activity.
"Together, we are experiencing an unpredictable time in our history as a nation and as a school district," wrote LVJUSD Community Engagement Director Philomena Rambo in the statement. "We must adhere to the precautions recommended by our public health experts."

There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in LVJUSD schools, she wrote. The district said it will notify the public as updates unfold.
