Man Who Died in I-580 Crash Identified

The collision occurred west of Grant Line Road in Alameda County early Tuesday morning.

LIVERMORE, CA: The Alameda County coroner's bureau has identified a man who died early Tuesday morning in a traffic collision on Interstate Highway 580 east of Livermore as 35-year-old Modesto resident Fernando Luna. Luna was allegedly speeding in a 2006 GMC Sierra east on Highway 580 west of Grant Line Road when he rear-ended another truck.

Both trucks crossed all four lanes of traffic and then went down an embankment. Luna was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his truck when it overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officers responded at 5:32 a.m. and determined Luna's GMC hit a 2000 GMC Sierra driven by a 43-year-old man, whose vehicle was traveling at about 65 mph.
