Mines Road Crash: New Details Emerge

CHP released new information on the Sunday crash, in which two suspects driving an allegedly stolen vehicle fled the scene.

LIVERMORE, CA — The California Highway Patrol has released new details on the Mines Road crash Sunday, in which two suspects allegedly fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

The suspect vehicle, a 2024 Toyota Rav4, was traveling north on Mines Road and veered into oncoming traffic, striking a 2011 Kia Sorrento, according to CHP Officer Tyler Hahn. Despite trying to avoid each other, the Rav4 struck the Kia on the passenger’s door, causing major injuries, including broken ribs, pelvis, and a damaged lung.

After the crash, the Toyota passenger fled on foot into a nearby vineyard, but was eventually found and arrested. The driver is suspected of driving under the influence, and the car was reported as stolen.
