Motorcyclist Was Speeding Before He Crashed, Livermore Police Say
Due to the number of collisions on the road, officers were conducting speed-enforcement when they saw the rider driving around 100 mph.

LIVERMORE, CA — A motorcycle rider who suffered major injuries during a crash in Livermore Tuesday afternoon was speeding on state Highway 84, police said. The collision occurred in the intersection of Isabel Avenue and Jack London Boulevard at 3:42 p.m., according to Livermore police.
Officers were conducting speed-enforcement patrols in the area because of the roadway's reputation for a high volume of speed-related collisions when they noticed the man speeding at what they estimated to be around 100 mph, according to police.
Before officers could stop the rider, he lost control and crashed into another vehicle. The rider was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with major injuries. Police said the other driver was not injured.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area for several hours during the afternoon commute. The intersection reopened just after 8 p.m.
The investigation into this collision is ongoing. Drugs or alcohol haven't been ruled out as factors in the crash. Anyone with any information in the case is asked to call police at (925) 371-4777.
