Jim Brase leads LLNL research using high performance super computing in the fight against COVID-19. Kamena said, “This includes the design of new antibodies and antiviral drugs to neutralize the virus causing the disease. Moreover, his team is focused on redesigning therapies against a broad spectrum of viruses.”

Director Brase explains how LLNL and the consortium of national lab partners aim to transform drug discovery by greatly accelerating the development of effective therapies for patients. “We want to be ready in weeks, not years, for the next pandemic,” says Brase.
