TRI-VALLEY, CA — With Tri-Valley under a shelter-in-place order due to concerns about the new coronavirus, stores have closed, workers have been laid off, kids are home from school, grocery stores are in short supply and the public is left to grapple with unforeseen challenges.

A lot of people need help. If you're one of them, read on to see who might be able to lend a helping hand.

A Bay Area school lunch company has launched an online order drive-thru grocery operation in Danville.

Health

Dublin-based Hope Hospice is offering free video consultations to East Bay family caregivers who care for a loved one with dementia. The consultations will be conducted via teleconferencing program Zoom.

Transportation

Bay Area Rapid Transit has scaled back operations amid steeply declining ridership but continues to run.

Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District has called on riders to use the rear door if possible and skip paying fares to maintain social distancing. Find more updates from AC Transit here.

Altamont Corridor Express runs with some adjustments: Saturday service is suspended due to declining ridership; train sizes have been reduced; and train 07/10 is suspended until further notice as of Monday, March 23. Read more about ACE changes here.

Entertainment

The Alameda County Library and Contra Costa County Library may be closed, but users with online accounts have access to e-books, audio, video and other media.

The City of San Ramon has created a Virtual Recreation Center with ideas for all, including links to virtual tours of museums and national parks, livestreams of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the National Cherry Festival and more.
