Scammers Targeting Livermore, Tri-Valley Residents

The fraudsters are calling residents and going door-to-door, pretending to be City of Livermore employees.

LIVERMORE, CA — The City of Livermore has learned of multiple scams targeting Tri-Valley residents, and officials are offering as reminder.

"We have heard reports of phone calls warning residents that their water service will be disconnected due to non-payment unless the resident purchases a pre-paid debit card within a 30-minute window. We have also had reports of scammers going door-to-door impersonating City of Livermore employees and asking for payment for services," the city said on social media.
"Remember, the City of Livermore will never ask you for unusual payment methods or come to your home to collect payments," the city continued. "If you receive a suspicious water service phone call, do not give payment and call the City of Livermore Water Resources Division at (925) 960-8100. If you are approached by someone who you believe is impersonating a City of Livermore employee, ask to see their employee identification card and call the Livermore Police Department at (925) 371-4900."
