School District Announces New Administrative Appointments

LIVERMORE, CA - From Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District: On Tuesday, May 1st, the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) Board of Education voted to approve an additional vice principal (VP) at its two comprehensive high schools for the 2018-19 school year. On June 12th, the Board unanimously approved the two new appointments to those positions. The positions will be filled by Livermore High School (LHS) teacher Brett Christopher as an LHS VP, and Granada High School (GHS) Athletic Director Clark Conover as a VP at GHS.

In addition, the District is pleased to announce several other administrative changes. Erik Taylor, currently a VP at LHS, will join Del Valle Continuation High School as the school’s VP. Valerie Nebo will join the administrative team at LHS as VP. Ravi Prabhala, Integrated Technology Specialist and Teacher on Special Assignment at LVJUSD, will be promoted to VP at Mendenhall Middle School.

Brett Christopher is an LHS alumnus looking forward to serving his alma mater as a vice principal. He earned his B.A. in Education from the University of the Pacific and went on to Concordia University, Irvine where he earned his master’s degree in Educational Administration and Leadership. He worked in Stockton as an educator, putting together a curriculum for a new charter school and teaching high school social science courses. There, he also taught English Language Development, pre-algebra, P.E., blended online courses, and started a baseball program. Christopher has been with LVJUSD for three years, teaching core and honors core at East Avenue Middle School, before moving to LHS where he has been teaching social science for the last two years. In addition to teaching social science at LHS, Brett has taught Freshmen in Transition (FIT) and Leadership, and has worked with student leaders as advisor to the Associated Student Body (ASB).

Clark Conover attended LVJUSD schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade. He earned an AA degree from Chabot College – where he is a member of the athletic hall of fame – and went on to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He received his teaching credential and administrative credential from California State University East Bay. Conover has worked at Granada High School for the last nineteen years, teaching mathematics, health, P.E., and work experience. He coached the GHS wrestling team for thirteen years, and served as Athletic Director for the last eleven. Conover brings strong communication and problem-solving skills, organization, knowledge of the academic programs and teaching strategies, and the ability to work with a team to the position of vice principal.

Erik Taylor has been an educator in LVJUSD for the last fifteen years. He has taught middle and high school, served as the District’s Integrated Technology Specialist, and served as vice principal at Christensen Middle School and, most recently, Livermore High School. As VP, Taylor worked closely with the Mathematics and Special Education departments, and was responsible for testing and technology. He led the implementation of a new math course designed to strengthen foundational skills in algebra. Taylor is the current Livermore Management Association (LMA) President and Livermore Chapter President of the Association of California School Administrators.

Valerie Nebo is an LHS alumna and has worked in the LVJUSD for the last fifteen years. She served as a teacher at Livermore and Vineyard High schools; and as a teacher, track and field coach, and International Baccalaureate Programme coordinator at GHS. She has been with Mendenhall Middle School as vice principal for the last two years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from California University of Pennsylvania and has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California State University East Bay. Nebo brings to LHS her belief that all students can achieve and succeed. She looks forward to working with staff and administration to realize the District’s mission to prepare students to contribute and thrive in a changing world.

Ravi Prabhala earned his B.S. in Genetics at the University of California Davis and continued his education by earning an M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of the Pacific and an M.S. in Educational Leadership at California State University East Bay. Prabhala taught earth and life science at East Avenue Middle School for ten years. During his time there, he launched the Project Lead the Way STEM program, and coached the boys and girls basketball teams. For the last four years, he has served as Integrated Technology Specialist as an LVJUSD Teacher on Special Assignment. Prabhala brings energy and enthusiasm to the position of vice principal. He is passionate about student-centered classrooms, providing authentic learning opportunities for students, and empowering students with additional voice and choice in their learning.
