'Tis the Season To Reduce Food Waste in Livermore!
More and more residents are feeding scraps, trimmings and bones to Binny the Green Cart.

Dear Neighbor,
It’s the time of year to be thankful and celebrate with loved ones. Part of being thankful is not taking what we have for granted. We can show gratitude by not wasting food and by putting what food scraps we do have into the green cart—so they can be composted, not landfilled. Over the past year, I’ve seen more and more residents take part, residents like Judy B. pictured here with me. She loves to recycle and compost. Won’t you join us? Here’s how:
- Feed me scraps: Bones, trimmings, peels, napkins-YUM!
- Feed me what spoils: Mold is like a gourmet topping to me!
- Cook with leftovers: Although I like to eat your scraps, it reduces more waste if you eat the food before it spoils! Check out this recipe for White Bean and Turkey Chili at www.LivermoreRecycles.org
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
