Tri-Valley Nonprofit Launches Campaign To Feed Cancer Patients
Culinary Angels, which delivers meals to seriously sick residents, is now offering a four-tiered, monthly donation initiative.
TRI-VALLEY, CA — Livermore nonprofit Culinary Angels has now launched a four-tiered monthly donation initiative to feed seriously ill patients in Dublin, Livermore and Pleasanton.
The nonprofit said its newly launched Nourish the Need program will allow residents to provide free, nutritious meals to Tri-Valley residents grappling with a major diagnosis — primarily cancer patients, Culinary Angels said in a news release.
About six percent of Pleasanton and Livermore adults have been diagnosed with a type of cancer other than skin cancer, the county found in a 2016 report, according to the nonprofit.

A $10 monthly donation provides one meal, a $20 monthly donation provides a meal to a patient and their caregiver, a $60 monthly donation provides a patient with two meals per month for three months and a $120 monthly donation provides a patient meals twice monthly for six months.
“While Culinary Angels is reliant on the thousands of volunteer hours donated by those working in the kitchen and delivering meals, we also have monetary costs that include culinary equipment, food, and compostable packaging," said Lisa McNaney, a cancer survivor and Culinary Angels founder and executive director, in the release. "Nourish the Need donations will help to offset some of these costs at a time when the need is growing and more critical than ever."
