Tri-Valley Students Invited To Register: Manufacturing Day 2018

Exposure to this type of experience is invaluable to all students curious about possibilities in the manufacturing industry.

From LVJUSD: Students from local high schools and Las Positas College are invited to see firsthand the inner workings of Tri-Valley manufacturing businesses. On Friday, October 5, students participating in Tri-Valley Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) will tour facilities and engage in hands-on demonstrations at manufacturing sites such as Admedes, AMP Printing, Bake Fresh, Lam Research, Logo Boss, Peridot, Sandia National Lab, Topcon Positioning Systems, and Vintage 99 Label. Afterwards, students will be treated to a lunch reception and additional manufacturing exhibits, providing students the opportunity to connect with businesses and local leaders.

“I am thrilled that so many of our wonderful Tri-Valley businesses are taking the opportunity to show our students what the world of manufacturing looks like in the 21st Century,” said Julie Duncan, Superintendent of the Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program (TVROP). “National Manufacturing Day gives students access to entrepreneurs, developers and innovators, and the opportunity to discuss job-relevant skills with industry professionals,” Duncan added.

Now in its fifth year, Tri-Valley MFG Day is held in conjunction with the National Manufacturing Day initiative designed to inspire the next generation of manufacturers, celebrating modern manufacturing and creating learning opportunities tailored to the Tri-Valley’s unique careers. The cities of Dublin, Livermore, and Pleasanton; local educational institutions; and participating manufacturing businesses welcome students from local high schools and Las Positas College to participate.

"This experience has wow power,” said Lynn Naylor, CEO of Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group (ITV). “When curious students get access to work spaces in the Tri-Valley that are loaded with the energy of innovation and big new ideas, whole new careers can be sparked in just an instant."

This event is made possible by the commitment and coordination of many community partnerships. Thanks to collaboration between cities, educators, ITV, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Silicon Valley Chapter, TVROP, and local businesses, manufacturing facilities will open their doors for students to have the opportunity to see real-world applications of subjects learned in the classroom. Exposure to this type of experience is invaluable to all students curious about possibilities in the manufacturing industry after graduation.
