Vegetation Fire Contained In Livermore: LPFD

LIVERMORE, CA — A vegetation fire broke out near the intersection of Portola Avenue and North Murrieta Boulevard in Livermore Wednesday afternoon, according to Battalion Chief Kurtis Dickey of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.

At 3:32 p.m., units received the call that a roughly 20 by 30-foot fire had broken out in tall grass on the west side of Portola Avenue, just south of I-580, Dickey said. Two units quickly contained and extinguished the fire, which was marked closed at 3:58 p.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown, although crews located a propane torch next to the burn area, Dickey said.

Two unhoused camps are located just below the fire area, but no damage was reported.
