Virus Sends Fake Emails From City Hall To Livermore Residents

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore residents may have been spammed as the result of a virus that struck city hall computer systems, it was announced Wednesday.

"The City of Livermore City Hall email system experienced a computer virus on Tuesday, August 27. Staff have determined that the virus started sending unauthorized emails from city staff accounts to residents. These emails include an attachment. As a precaution, residents should delete and not open any unexpected emails from the City," a statement from the city read.

"Residents who want to verify whether an email is legitimate can call City Hall at (925) 960-4300. City I.T. staff are working diligently to fix the problem and will have it resolved as soon as possible."
