Woman, 'Punching and Kicking,' Fights Off Would-Be Kidnapper: Livermore Police

Breaking: The victim told police the suspect, who is on the lam, had "strong body odor and may have been a transient."

LIVERMORE, CA — A Livermore woman fought off a man who grabbed her from behind and tried to drag her away Friday night, police officials said.

The woman was going out to her car, which was parked in the 400 block of Summertree Drive, on Friday night at about 10 p.m. when she was attacked. Police said the man grabbed her from behind, picked her up and put his hand over her mouth. According to police, the suspect told the victim that she was "coming with him." Police said the victim fought, punching and kicking, eventually freeing herself.

The suspect fled on foot toward the nearby Arroyo Trail bike path. Police officials responded and searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.

The victim told police the suspect had “strong body odor and may have been a transient.” The male suspect, who was wearing dark clothing, stood about 6 feet, 3 inches tall and weighed 250 pounds.
