Registration for Dodgers Dreamteam for local youth closes May 31 (sigtrib.com) — Long Beach families have until May 31 to register kids ages 5 to 18 for the city’s Dodgers Dreamteam baseball and softball program, which runs June through August. The Parks, Recreation and Marine department highlights added benefits like scholarships, wellness resources and mentoring, with spots filled on a first-come, first-served basis and details available online or via the city sports office.    

2. AWE 2026's Auggie Awards Finalists Show XR's Identity Crisis Is Officially Over (gamespace.com) — A major XR and spatial computing conference is coming to Long Beach this June, bringing the 2026 Auggie Awards and a showcase of cutting-edge AR/VR tech. Finalists highlight practical uses like accessibility, education, healthcare, and AI-assisted tools, along with new headworn devices and games. Winners will be announced live during AWE USA 2026 on June 17.    

3. Things to do in Long Beach this weekend — including a spooky Queen Mary speakeasy and festival for Toyota lovers (lbpost.com) — Long Beach residents have a packed week of local fun ahead, from a gothic Edgar Allan Poe speakeasy aboard the Queen Mary to Toyotafest at Marina Green Park and a tequila-fueled dance night at MOLAA. Families can also enjoy free artmaking at the Long Beach Museum of Art and a monthly downtown dog walk at Paws on the Promenade.    

4. Evansville artist's poster selected for America 250 project (thegleaner.com) — Long Beach will briefly share the spotlight next week when it hosts the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ annual meeting, where an Evansville artist’s America 250 poster will be displayed. The acrylic piece celebrates Indiana’s history with Ohio River imagery, state symbols, and patriotic themes. It’s one of many local artworks being showcased nationally.
