LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a man dead early Friday in the city's Willmore neighborhood.
Officers responded at about 12:59 a.m. to the 700 block of Magnolia Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the suspect or suspects fled before officers arrived.
Homicide detectives responded to investigate. The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
In addition, police are also investigating a stabbing on 500 block of West 7th Street that resulted in a man being hospitalized on Thursday night.
