Celebrate Purim with Jewish Long Beach & the Alpert JCC

Fun for the whole family includes bounce houses, games, prizes, a tot zone, hamantaschen (pastry), kosher barbecue for purchase, and more.

Known as the Feast of Lots and the most joyous Jewish celebration of the year, Jewish Long Beach and Alpert Jewish Community Center are celebrating Purim on Sunday, March 5, 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM.

Fun for the whole family includes bounce houses, games, prizes, a tot zone, hamantaschen (pastry), kosher barbecue for purchase, and more starting at 12:30. All are invited to participate in a costume parade at 2:30 PM.

The highlight of the event is an interactive family concert from Ellen Allard, known as the “Queen of Jewish Early Childhood Music,” at 3:00 PM.

Purim is a remembrance observed in festive, carnival-like traditions. As told in the book of Esther, brave Queen Esther and her cousin Mordecai protected the Jews from Haman who wanted to execute all the Jews in the Persian Empire in the fourth century BC.

All the fun will take place outdoors at the Alpert Jewish Community Center on the Weinberg Jewish Long Beach Campus 3801 E. Willow St. Long Beach, CA 90815 and will move indoors if it rains.

Admission includes games, activities, concert and two drink tickets for beer, wine, and assorted non-alcoholic beverages. Visit https://alpertjcc.org/event/pu... to purchase tickets ahead of time. The price is $10 per person in advance, $15 at the door, capacity permitting. Use the promo code HAPPYPURIM and receive 30% off admission. Parking is free, but carpooling is encouraged. Financial assistance is available for anyone unable to afford admission.

Jewish Long Beach & Alpert JCC provide programming for all ages and stages of life. Known as “Your Center for Life,” The Alpert JCC provides a gathering space in which all are welcome to pursue early childhood education, after-school programs, fitness programs, aquatics activities, and summer camp, as well as to engage in Jewish life, culture, and education.
