“The Long Beach AR Challenge is an exciting opportunity to bring new immersive AR experiences to Downtown Long Beach and form new partnerships,” said Technology and Innovation Department Director Lea Eriksen. “The AR Challenge is part of Long Beach’s Smart City Initiative and in alignment with the recently launched Long Beach Accelerator and is designed to encourage new investments and development of talent in the local technology ecosystem.”
AR Challenge participants were asked to build their applications using the Spark AR Studio platform and deploy a proof of concept to be used in Downtown Long Beach for the public to interact with on the Instagram social media platform using smartphones. At the free exhibition, attendees also will be able to enjoy complimentary live music, food and drink from local restaurants while voting for their favorite AR experiences.
