Someone just told you that you need an apostille. Now what?
Maybe you're holding a document that has to be used in another country, and you're trying to figure out what happens next. Nobody explained what an apostille is or where to start.
You're definitely not the first person to have questions. What type of document do you have? Does it need to be notarized first? Where do you get the apostille? And how do you know you're following the right process? These are questions I regularly hear from people who are navigating the apostille process. For more than 25 years, Notary Long Beach-Mobile Notary & Apostille has provided mobile notary and apostille services to individuals, families, attorneys, and businesses throughout Long Beach and surrounding areas. I've found that most people don't need a complicated explanation. They simply need to know where to start.
Start with your document
First, identify what kind of document you have. A California birth certificate, a court document, a notarized document, and other official records can each have different requirements.
If an employer, attorney, government agency, school, or consulate asked you for the apostille, keep any instructions they gave you. They can help clarify what's needed.
Where will you use the document?
An apostille authenticates a public document for use in another country that belong to the Hague Apostille Convention. That makes the country receiving your document an important part of the process. If it isn't a member, the steps are different.Does the document need to be notarized?
This is a common source of confusion, and the short answer is that a notarization and an apostille are not the same thing.
A California notary public performs a notarial act. An apostille is a separate certification issued by a different authority. Some documents need to be notarized before they can receive an apostille, and others don't. The answer depends on the type of document and how it was issued.
If notarizing comes first, that's where I can help right away. I travel to you, at home, at your office, or wherever is easiest.

What if you're still not sure?
You don't need to know all the answers before you reach out. Tell me what the document is, where it was issued, and where it will be used, and that is usually all I need to point you in the right direction. I can tell you what needs to happen next, including whether notarization or another step comes before the apostille.
Questions or ready to book?
Getting the requirements right before you move forward can help prevent delays and rejected documents. If you have questions about your document, call me at (562) 477-3166. If you already know what you need, you can book an appointment online, day or night.

Need A California Apostille? What To Know First

Someone just told you that you need an apostille. Now what?...

What will still be here 100 years from now?
It’s an interesting question to consider while standing in front of Bembridge House, one of Long Beach’s best-known historic homes. Built in 1906, the home has endured for more than a century, thanks in part to the care taken to preserve its architecture and history for the generations that followed.
We can’t know exactly what the future will look like. But we can make thoughtful plans for it.
That’s one reason October’s designation as Estate Planning Awareness Month is a good opportunity to take a fresh look at the documents that help put our wishes in place.
For some people, that means finally getting around to an estate plan. For others, it means reviewing documents they already have to make sure they still reflect their wishes. And when the time comes to sign, the notarization is an important part of the process for documents that require it.
Estate-planning signings may include a living trust, power of attorney, advance health care directive, or other documents prepared with the guidance of an attorney. A notary does not prepare or provide legal advice about those documents. The notary’s role is to properly complete the notarization when one is required.
As the owner of Notary Long Beach-Mobile Notary & Apostille, I provide mobile notary services for estate-planning signings throughout Long Beach and surrounding communities. For more than 25 years, I've met clients at their home or at another convenient location, making it possible to take care of the notarization without adding an unnecessary trip to a notary’s office.
The signing itself may only be one step in a much larger process, but it deserves attention. Knowing what to bring, understanding who needs to be present, and being prepared for the notarization can help the appointment go smoothly.
I recently wrote “Estate Planning Awareness Month: What to Know Before Signing,” where I go into more detail about what to consider before sitting down to sign estate-planning documents.
Bembridge House has lasted because people made decisions to care for something today that would matter tomorrow. Estate planning takes a different form, but the underlying idea is familiar: think ahead, make thoughtful decisions, and put those plans in place.Need a mobile notary for your estate-planning signing? What Bembridge House Can Teach Us About Planning for the Future

Car accidents don't always announce their full impact right away. Someone can walk away from a collision feeling shaken but otherwise fine, only to develop persistent neck, back, or joint pain in the weeks that follow. For Long Beach patients dealing with this kind of delayed or lingering pain, understanding why it happens, and what treatment options exist beyond initial urgent care, can make a meaningful difference in recovery.
Soft tissue injuries, including whiplash, ligament strain, and disc irritation, are common after even relatively minor collisions. Some soft tissue injuries may not appear on X-rays and may require further evaluation to identify the source of persistent or worsening symptoms. Patients are often treated in the emergency room or by their primary care provider for the acute injury, then advised to rest, ice the area, and use over-the-counter pain relief. For many people, that is enough. For others, pain persists beyond the expected healing window and may benefit from evaluation by a specialist. If you develop new or worsening pain, weakness, numbness, dizziness, or other concerning symptoms after a crash, seek prompt medical evaluation.
This gap, between acute injury treatment and ongoing pain management, is often where interventional pain medicine comes in. Depending on the specific injury and where the pain is located, treatment options may include tendon and ligament injections for soft tissue damage, knee joint injections or hyaluronic acid injections for joint-related pain, or, for selected patients with chronic neuropathic pain who have not responded adequately to conventional treatment, spinal cord stimulation may be considered following specialist evaluation and a successful trial.
Not every accident-related injury requires interventional treatment, and not every treatment is right for every patient. A proper evaluation, including a review of the original injury, imaging, and how the pain has evolved over time, helps determine which approach, if any, is appropriate. Patients are sometimes surprised to learn how many non-surgical options exist between waiting it out and more invasive procedures.
If pain from a car accident hasn't resolved as expected, whether that's weeks or months later, it's worth having it evaluated by a specialist rather than assuming it's something you simply have to live with. Long Beach patients can schedule a consultation at the clinic's Long Beach location to discuss their specific situation. The same evaluation is also available at Integrative Sports & Spine's Riverside, Alhambra, and City of Industry locations.

Chronic Pain After a Car Accident? Interventional Treatment May Help

For Long Beach patients dealing with knee pain from osteoarthritis or joint wear, two of the more commonly discussed injection options are hyaluronic acid and cortisone. Both can play a role in a treatment plan, but they work differently, and understanding the distinction can help patients have a more informed conversation with their care team.
Cortisone injections are anti-inflammatory. They work by reducing inflammation in the joint, which can provide meaningful pain relief, often within days. That relief, however, tends to be temporary, and cortisone injections are generally limited in how frequently they can be used in the same joint over time due to potential effects on cartilage with repeated use.
Hyaluronic acid injections take a different approach. Rather than targeting inflammation directly, hyaluronic acid injections are intended to supplement the joint's natural lubricating fluid, which can break down with osteoarthritis. Some patients experience gradual symptom relief lasting several months, while others see little or no benefit. Suitability depends on the diagnosis, prior treatment, and clinician evaluation, and relief may take time to develop.
Neither treatment is universally better, and the right choice depends on factors such as the severity of joint degeneration, how quickly relief is needed, and how the patient has responded to previous treatments. Other options, including knee joint injections or PRP therapy, may also be considered based on the patient's individual condition, treatment history, and clinician evaluation.
Because every patient's joint condition and pain pattern is different, the most useful next step is usually a proper evaluation rather than requesting a specific injection by name. A qualified assessment can help determine which option, or combination of options, is most likely to help.
Long Beach patients dealing with ongoing knee pain can schedule a consultation at the clinic's Long Beach location. We also offer consultations at Integrative Sports & Spine's Riverside, Alhambra, and City of Industry locations. Call (833) 476-7377, to discuss which approach may fit your situation.

Hyaluronic Acid vs. Cortisone Injections for Knee Pain: Which Is Right for You?

A mobile notary appointment this week took me to the Billie Jean King Library in Downtown Long Beach, where I met a client to notarize several real estate documents.
The client booked the appointment online and suggested the library as our meeting place. It was my first time back since the library was rebuilt, so I was curious to see the changes.

That's one of the things I've appreciated throughout my more than 25 years as a mobile notary. Every appointment is a little different. Sometimes I'm meeting someone at their home or office, and sometimes the client already has a location in mind that makes sense for them.
In this case, the Billie Jean King Library worked well. It was convenient for the client, and it was a nice reminder that after all these years, I'm still discovering new places around Long Beach through my work.
If you need documents notarized, you can book an appointment with Notary Long Beach-Mobile Notary & Apostille online or call (562) 477-3166 and choose a location that works best for you.

My workdays are usually pretty full. As a mobile notary, I’m traveling to appointments and helping clients with documents that are important to them, their families, attorneys and businesses.
Recently, I knew I’d have a break in my schedule, so I decided to plan something for myself. I had to make my appointment at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden at Cal State Long Beach two weeks in advance, so it gave me something to look forward to during a busy stretch of work.
When the day came, I spent part of my break walking through the garden, watching the koi and enjoying the quiet. I took some pictures and videos, too, because I wanted to remember the visit and share a little of it here.
It wasn’t a day away from work or a big getaway. It was just a little time in the middle of a busy workday to do something I enjoyed.
Sometimes that’s enough.
