Donald Sterling, billionaire, philanthropist, racist.
After the leaking of a private conversation/argument by Mr. Sterling's girlfriend, V. Stiviano, and it now seems the life of the soon to be former Clippers owners has been turned upside down. But why and what was the argument leaked, and where are all the racial slurs?
The argument centered around Donald not wanting V. Stiviano post pictures of herself with black people on her Instagram account. Ms. Stiviano then goes on baiting the argument more, and more. Listening to the entire private recording, which is illegal in California, you can sense more of a jilted romance going on. But jilted or not, that is never an excuse to tolerate racism.
The result of this leaked recording is a $2,500,000.00 fine from the NBA, and a lifetime ban from the sport. The issue of forcing the sale of the Clippers has yet to be decided, but it seems eminent.
Backlash from this has people everywhere talking and asking questions, and once in a while Paula Deen's name comes into it. One of the most direct and intolerable remarks from the 'celebrity' world is from non other than Long Beach's own, Snoop Dog.
Li'l Wayne also made his feelings known, but without the racial slurs and more constructively conveyed how the players might feel about the whole situation.
So here we now ask, how do you classify a racist? Racism is defined as; A: a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another. and B: hatred or intolerance of another race or other races. In these definitions and others, nowhere does it say that racism is an attribute of only whites.
Racism does exist in other races. Whether you hear the word Gringo, Cracker, Fag, Towel-head, a racist said it. Racism doesn't care where you come from or how much money you make, it knows only hate and ignorance. Yet it brings out the worst in everyone, often times violently.
Yet when a 'minority' makes a racist remark or racially motivated attack, it is often dismissed as not being a hate crime. Why? Is there something in the Constitution which holds other ethnic groups the freedom to be openly racist or to commit hate crimes?
What happened to fair and equal under the law?
Pot, meet Kettle.
