The Long Beach Chamber Of Commerce PAC has now given its endorsement for a potential new mayor in the upcoming election. Given that Mayor Bob Foster has not announced plans to run for re-election, one would think that their endorsement would have been for someone who is local.
But instead, the PAC has endorsed someone who has only recently moved to Long Beach in the past couple years. True, he has made a lot of investments in real estate in Long Beach, but how does that qualify this person for being Mayor of Long Beach?
I tend to attempt to make an informed decision when it comes to placing my vote for someone. What Long Beach needs is someone who has been active in the community, and not the dog and pony shows other politicians put on. I mean ACTIVE on a continuous basis throughout their elected term to effect change and prosperity.
I may be closing a door on myself by not agreeing with the endorsement the PAC has made in their candidate, and I am prepared to live with it. But I would rather place my confident vote in someone that has earned the position by working for their constituents, and not glad-handing.
